Facilitating for Results (A Solution for Results-Oriented Meetings)
Facilitating for Results (8 to 10 hours)
Meeting leaders will gain the skills to effectively plan and facilitate meetings that produce results. At completion of this unit, participants will be able to: plan for a focused meeting; start a meeting by reviewing the purpose, desired outcome(s), ground rules, and agenda; use facilitation techniques to encourage a wide range of views on discussion topics; explain the difference between meeting process and meeting content; keep the discussion on track while maintaining an appropriate meeting pace; assign action items and make follow-up plans to conclude a meeting; explain how to evaluate a meeting; and describe how they plan to use the skills from this unit in meetings they lead. The program contains from 8 to 10 hours of instructional material conducted in a time frame best suited to the participants and the organization. It uses: video modeling; discussion; in-class exercises; practice; feedback; and planning activities to build participants’ skills and encourage the transfer of new skills to the workplace. An optional follow-up session provides additional opportunities for practice.
